After a two-year hiatus because of COVID, the Wireless Power Consortium returned to the Consumer Electronics Show for CES 2023 in January. And what a return it was! WPC earned Best of Show awards from three different trade publications and received more than 300 articles, postings, and video interviews which reached nearly 3 million viewers.
CES 2023 was the venue for the announcement of the coming launch of Qi2. Qi2 is a new wireless charging standard that will unify the industry under one global standard and provide enhanced convenience and efficiency for mobile devices and wearables. Qi2 will lead to faster wireless charging and universal compatibility of handheld and mobile devices.
The new standard will offer millions of consumers who rely on wireless charging a better wireless experience. The Qi2 (pronounced ‘chee two’) standard will replace its predecessor, Qi, in a rapidly expanding market where about one billion devices – transmitters and receivers – will be sold worldwide in 2023.
Qi2 was certainly the star of the show for WPC earning the three Best of Show awards previously mentioned, multiple interviews, and widespread media attention. Click here to learn more about Qi2.
Not to be outdone, the Ki Cordless Kitchen demonstration, as usual, dazzled the over 500 visitors who stopped by the WPC booth. Coming off a big showing at IFA in Berlin last September, at CES 2023 WPC featured cordless kitchen appliances from Philips, Midea, EGO, Taurus, Invisacook and Arzum. Powered by transmitters in a dual function induction cooktop or by hidden transmitters mounted underneath the countertop, the Ki standard can deliver up to 2200 watts of power. No cords, no batteries.
The Ki Cordless Kitchen can be built into new or remodeled kitchens or easily added into existing kitchens. The hidden transmitters work with any kind of countertop except something metallic. It’s safer than a traditional kitchen, optimizes available kitchen space and adds unparalleled convenience to food preparation, cooking and clean up.
The Ki Cordless Kitchen is the kitchen of the future. If you’re tired of messy cords getting in the way of cooking and limiting your food prep area, and like the idea of a sleek, modern kitchen design, then Ki is the wireless power standard you’ll want to get to know. Click here to learn more about the Ki Cordless Kitchen and when it will be available or see the short video above.
CES 2023 was just the opening salvo for a busy year of trade shows for WPC. Next up is MWC in Barcelona in February, followed by WIS World IT Show in Seoul in April, the Appliance and Electronics World Expo (AWE) in Shanghai also in April, and IFA Berlin in September. Stay tuned for more WPC announcements surrounding these shows.
We’re always working to improve, update and evolve the Qi standard and Qi2 will offer improved wireless charging, a new user experience and pave the way for future features and enhancements.
